You do qualify for food stamps and Medicaid after being released from prison. Whether you are convicted or not and are incarcerated or released from incarceration, you can always sign up for your state’s Medicaid plan. You just can’t receive medical care, if you have been convicted and in confinement except for medical treatment needed outside of confinement.
