This wasn’t an experience at my local food stamp office. It was at Walmart.
I’d just finished going through the checkout stand when the cashier asked me for $2.09. I was flabbergasted. I bought nothing but food. Being as I was dependant upon my EBT, I did not bring cash. Therefore, after a long checkout experience and the cashier trying to find out what food wouldn’t go through, she finally took the $2.09 out of her cash. Her name is MAYLEEN, and tomorrow I’ll go back down to Walmart and pay her back.
It was great of her to be so benevolent but as a “thank you” I’m going to repay her.
The purpose of this email is to complain against the company or the entity that so arbitrarily stamped out part of its promise to us that we have complete trust and dependency on that card.
As I go through the receipt, I see that I bought 2 boxes of independently wrapped coffee servings. They were $1.00 each, which would bring them up to $2.00 and then there’s the tax. If the tax was 9 cents, that would account for the $2.09.
The reason I bought independently-wrapped coffee is because when I buy the coffee in the jar, and spoon out a certain amount, to put into one of the 3-piece table-top sugar/coffee/creamer ornaments, the coffee dries out. Therefore, today I bought the individually-wrapped coffees.
Please straighten out this mess as far as the machinery is concerned. Individually-wrapped coffee or a 2-ton jar worth of it is the same. IT IS FOOD.
Thank you.
