How old do you have to be to apply for food stamps

Q) How old do you have to be to apply for food stamps

A) If you are suffering from a lack of adequate food and nutrition you are entitled to apply for food stamp or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. Your age does not matter. If you’re under the age of 18 and living with your family, then your family has the right to apply for food stamps if the household income falls below the program poverty wage limit.

  1. I have had my work hours dramatically reduced since March 09, 2020. I have fully exhausted my regular ui benefits and have received a letter if ineligibility for the PEUC. However, I meet all criteria and have filed an appeal and reconsideration. The CARES ACT is an emergency fund intended for those most impacted by covid 19 and the effects it has in each community. In Hawaii I am a Hospitality Hotel worker, a proud Local5 union member and I am in dire need of financial, rental,, and food assistance. My claim has been denied. Yet, 2020 has not yielded a similar income to that of 2019, gained thru my employment. I have relied on these emergency funds and have met all criteria set forth by the state of Hawaii.
