A) Yes, you can use your Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits on your Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card at any authorized retail food store in the United States of America, including the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam. Your (EBT) card can be used at any retail establishment that accepts debit cards and can withdraw cash. More recently, states have been curtailing the use of the cards and expressly prohibiting their use in certain locations, mostly casinos, liquor stores or other gaming establishments.
In 2012, the federal government mandated restrictions be put in place to prohibit EBT card use in liquor stores, gaming or gambling establishments or adult entertainment venues. States can face financial penalties if they are not in compliance. All states issue Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) formerly known as food stamps, through EBT cards. SNAP benefits can only be used to purchase food items and cannot be used to withdraw cash. https://www.ncsl.org/research/human-services/ebt-electronic-benefit-transfer-card-restrictions-for-public-assistance.aspx

In Hawaii I am a Hospitality Hotel worker, a proud Local5 union member and I am in dire need of financial, rental,, and food assistance. My claim has been denied. Yet, 2020 has not yielded a similar income to that of 2019, gained thru my employment. I have relied on these emergency funds and have met all criteria set forth by the state of Hawaii.
