“Extracts” such as Vanilla, Almond, lemon etc are SNAP eligible? Cause, I couldn’t see the “Nutrition

Q) Can anyone please help me to understand whether “Extracts” such as Vanilla, Almond, lemon etc are SNAP eligible? Cause, I couldn’t see the “Nutrition label” on any of the extract items.

A) In general, most food items which are intended for human consumption are eligible for purchase with SNAP benefits. Edible cooking ingredients that are normally consumed only after being incorporated into foods with other ingredients are eligible foods. Examples include lard, vegetables oils, and pectin (used as a base in jams or jellies). Also, vegetable products imparting flavor to food, such as corn husks, banana leaves, grape leaves, and lotus leaves, are eligible foods. In addition, items that may not be labeled as food, such as water, or bags of ice, are eligible foods. Generally, if an item is intended for human consumption, and it is not specifically excluded, it is considered an eligible food.

One Response to can i file an appeal on a decision to take my food stamps

  1. Your application portal doesn’t work. It says any email I use is already used by another user which is not true. My food stamps were cut off for no reason and your site won’t let me re-apply.

  1. I have been receiving food stamps for a while now but this month I have not. I tried calling all the numbers but I can’t get through. Very upsetting and I am hungry! I went online and no results. Scheduled a call back but no one called.
