The Colorado Food Stamp program, also known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), provides eligible low-income households with assistance to purchase food. The amount of benefits a household receives is based on income, household size, and expenses.
The maximum SNAP benefit amounts for Colorado in 2022 are:
- $204 for a household of 1
- $374 for a household of 2
- $535 for a household of 3
- $680 for a household of 4
- $835 for a household of 5
- $992 for a household of 6
- $1,141 for a household of 7
- $1,292 for a household of 8
Households with more than 8 members receive an additional $151 for each additional member.
It’s important to note that these are the maximum benefits, and the actual amount a household receives may be less based on their specific circumstances.
Colorado Food Stamp Allotment benefits is based on the number of people per household. Colorado residents in need of Food Stamp (SNAP) benefits must first qualify for food stamp benefits. The dollar amount or (allotment) that the household gets is determined yearly by US Department Of Agriculture – USDA. The net monthly income of the Colorado household is multiplied by .3, and the result is subtracted from the maximum allotment for the household size to find the household’s allotment. This is because SNAP (Food Stamp) households are expected to spend about 30 percent of their resources on food.
Benefits are provided from the day the Colorado household applies.
