A) I am so sorry to hear about your situation. It sounds like you have been through a lot, and I can understand why you are feeling overwhelmed.
I am not able to provide you with financial assistance, but I can help you find resources that may be able to help. Here are a few things that you can do:
- Contact your local social services agency. They can provide you with information about resources that are available to help you, such as food stamps, housing assistance, and job training.
- Apply for disability benefits. If you are unable to work due to a disability, you may be eligible for disability benefits. You can apply for disability benefits online or by mail.
- Contact your local food bank. Food banks provide free food to people who are struggling to make ends meet. You can find a food bank near you by visiting the Feeding America website.
- Contact your local church or synagogue. Many churches and synagogues offer food pantries and other assistance to people in need.
- Ask for help from your family and friends. Let your family and friends know that you are struggling, and see if they can help you with things like childcare, transportation, or food.
I know that these are difficult times for you, but please don’t give up. There are people who want to help, and you will get through this.
NOTE: SSI applicants who are experiencing extreme hardship qualify for emergency payments. If you qualify only for Social Security disability insurance (SSDI) benefits, you can’t receive emergency payments. According to Social Security Administration –
EXPEDITED PAYMENTS
- We can start payments more quickly than usual in four different types of situations:
- presumptive disability (PD) or presumptive blindness (PB) payment;
- emergency advance payment;
- immediate payment; and
- expedited reinstatement cases.
- PRESUMPTIVE DISABILITY OR BLINDNESS PAYMENTS
If your claim is for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits for disability or blindness, we may make presumptive disability (PD) or presumptive blindness (PB) payments for up to 6 months while you are waiting for the Disability Determination Services (DDS) to make a final decision. Our decision to grant PD or PB payments is based on the severity of your condition and the likelihood that your claim will be ultimately approved, and is not based on your financial need. https://www.ssa.gov/ssi/text-expedite-ussi.htm
Please contact your local Social Security Office and apply for emergency assistance.
